my baby fell out.
Caeden was in the front seat of the buggy and Micaiah was in the back section. I turned around for literally all of 5 seconds to read the back of a Tacky Glue bottle . As best as I can figure given the position of the buggy, and Caeden's curiosity, he was likely trying to reach out and grab one of the many brightly colored bottles of puff paint. He must have reached too far. I'm not even sure if I heard a crash or not, but I spun around and scooped up my precious boy. Then came the screams. It took him a couple of minutes to calm down. We received a few concerned views from people who came rushing from the aisle next to ours. As if I didn't feel bad enough, one lady had the nerve to passively suggest that I should have had him strapped in when she asked disgustedly, "Don't they have straps you can use?" We promptly left the store because there's no way I could have finished my shopping with tears clouding my eyes. By the time we reached the door, Caeden was calm and relaxed once again.
I strapped Micaiah into his carseat and before I strapped Caeden into his, and as I prayed for him once again, he kicked his legs and laughed at Micaiah. That was the best sound to hear in that moment. I called the doctor on my way home, and they told me what to look out for.
He is totally fine, and there is barely a bruise. He has been acting just like his normal, usual self.
Why didn't I strap him in? To be honest, I've never strapped in either boy because truthfully I was better than those disgusting straps. If you've ever paid attention, you've seen snotty, dirty children chewing on those things. Did I want those touching my boys? No thank you.
Now I realize that I'd rather have a germy strap touching my child rather than seeing him on the floor any day. Please, always strap in your baby.
This is after we got home; joyful just like always!
