Caeden Elijah - 7 months

My, oh my, how time flies. Here we are at 7 months. Closer to 1 than to newborn. It's a sad thing (I am nostalgic if I'm anything). And also a very, very happy thing!

That smile just melts my heart.

Weight: 17 pounds

Height: TBD

Eating: Nursing is still going well. He eats roughly at 7:00/11:00/3:00/6:50. Most days it’s somewhere within 30 minutes of those times. Other days, like today, are totally and completely off!

Waketimes: The first waketime is 2 hours. The second is 2 hours and 15-30 minutes.

Sleeping: 2- 2+ hour naps. He is sleeping all night still, but he has consistently been waking up about an hour earlier than I would like for him to for about a month. It kind of throws off our day. I’m still trying to figure out what to do about it. We dropped his third nap just after he turned 6 months old, although I’m still not convinced that he doesn’t need it. Maybe he would not wake up so early in the mornings if he wasn’t overtired from having such a long waketime before bed (don’t ask me why it can affect babies in that way…it just does!)

Sitting up on his own for the first time. You can see how he felt about it.

New discoveries and other notes: Caeden has had a really busy and exciting month! (Now maybe that’s the reason for our sleep disruptions??) He learned how to sit up. We moved. We’ve traveled back to Atlanta twice during the month. He learned how to scoot. He also gets up on his knees and rocks. It’s serious business. He can make a few moves on his knees, but mostly he flops back to his belly and scoots some more. Whether it’s doing that or rolling he definitely gets to where he wants to go. He has gotten three teeth—all within a two week time span! He got his top teeth first, and then one of his bottom teeth. Strangely enough, a third top tooth is going to be the next one. I am giving it two more days before it breaks through. He’s been sick for over two weeks. I just took him to the doctor today and he has a sinus infection. Hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow the medicine will be clearing it up and he’ll be able to breathe again without sounding like he’s underwater.

This boy can eat! The only typical baby food he eats is oatmeal. That was in an effort (even though all the research negates it) to keep him from waking so early in the morning. Clearly it isn't working. I could stop the cereal, but he really likes it, so I'll keep letting him have it. Everything else he eats is table food, and he l.o.v.e.s it! You should see the child eat a kiwi. He can put away an entire kiwi in probably less than 90 seconds. I don’t think he chews it. :) Pears and bananas are other favorite fruits. One of his most favorite foods of all is toast with cottage cheese on top. Just the other day he had macaroni and cheese. I thought he would have trouble with the small noodles, but it was no match for Caeden E.! He's eaten pretty much everything else the family eats, unless it's something with a lot of added salt or sugar.

Favorite toys: jumper, books, anything that shakes and makes noise, and anything that is chewy. He still loves his foam letter Y.
